Club Jekyll and Hyde
New York, New York

At one of New York's most spectacular theme restaurants, Rosenberg Kolb had a unique opportunity to design a fantastic dining and entertainment experience: Club Jekyll and Hyde, a space that is entirely fun, fuses traditional d cor, theatrical effects, complex interactive special effects and dramatic spaces.

The nondescript fa ade was completely replaced by a new glass curtain wall that is dark by day but reveals a glass elevator by night. The new fa ade features rotating animatronic skeletons, theatrical lighting, and sculpted cast panels with the head of Ramses moving between floors and talking to passers-by.

Although the building was extremely narrow [25'] Rosenberg Kolb was able to create a dramatic atrium from the ground to the roof that allows patrons an all five floors to partake of the elaborate floor show and the major special effects that are raised and lowered through the atrium. This design required some very creative problem solving to secure all necessary New York City Building Code approvals.

Each floor has a different theme developed in the interior design and the effects; The Grand Salon, the Library, the Laboratory Lounge. the Dungeon, etc. Overall, Rosenberg Kolb successfully married an English gentlemen's club with an Agatha Christie mystery
